Chebuswa is a beginner-friendly mountain\, making it ideal for hikers who want to experience the Aberdares without taking on an overly technical or exhausting climb. It’s also less explored\, which makes it an exciting opportunity to discover a quieter trail and tick off a long-standing bucket-list hike. Our hike starts before Twin Rocks\, on the lower side of the range\, before easing into the drive toward the Twin Rocks picnic site. From there\, we ascend Mount Chebuswa\, enjoy the views from the summit\, then descend and continue toward Dragon’s Teeth. \nFor the team\, there are route options depending on strength and energy: \n\n\nOne option is to hike up to Dragon’s Teeth and wrap up the day there by heading back to base. \n\n\nFor super strong hikers\, there’s an optional extension beyond Dragon’s Teeth. We will be using the Sirimon gate and will be hiking upto Liki North Valley which is at  4\,000 m above sea level. We will start our hike at the Old Moses camp around 3300m above sea level and trek for 8kms to the summit and another 8kms back.The trail cuts through the marshy vertical bog in the lower moorland zone\, past the upper moorland zone\, dotted with lobelias and other beautiful montane vegetation\, to get to the magnificent Liki North Valley. On a good day where the weather is friendly\, you will be able to see the Mt Kenya peaks.  \nDifficulty Level : Challenging (perfect for high altitude training)\nTrail Distance:12 kms.\nDuration of Hike: 5-6 hours \nHow to dress for this hike:\n– Beanie/Warm Headgear\,Thermal top\, Warm Jacket\, Hiking Pants\, Hiking Bag.\n– Comfortable waterproof hiking shoes with a good grip. (Tip: always wear a size bigger or half bigger than your normal shoe size)\n-Hat/cap/ sunglasses for sun protection (optional)\n-Essential Extras: Gaiters\, Trekking Pole\, Light Gloves\, Head torch. \nWhat to carry:\n– Water (2 or 3 liters)\n– Snacks/energy bars/your preferred trail food.\n– Rain gear/Poncho/Rain Jacket (must-have)\n– Small hiking bag to carry luggage (30L recommended)\n– Sunscreen (optional)\n– Face mask.\n– Camera (optional) \nTake note of the following key times:\nMeeting Time at International House: 4.00am bus leaves at exactly 4:05am.
