The forest is nestled within the folds of a geologically active volcanic mountain\, whose highest peak\, Ol Doinyo Eburu\, which stands 2\,820m asl. \nThe Mau Eburu Forest covers the slopes of Mount Eburu – a striking\, geologically active volcanic massive towering above the floor of the Great Rift Valley\, northwest of Lake Naivasha. The forest vegetation is uncommonly rich in biodiversity\, harbouring threatened fauna and flora. \nIn the language of the Masai people Eburru means ‘the smoking mountain’. \nAttractions:\n• Beautiful Forest Trail\n• ⁠Eburru view point of the 3 Lakes; Lake Elementaita\, Lake Nakuru\, Mt.Longonot and Lake Naivasha from one view Point. \nWhat to wear:\n– Tights/cargo pants or comfortable and fast dry hiking clothes\n– Warm jacket.\n– Comfortable hiking shoes\, preferably hiking boots or gym/sports shoes with good sole grip.\n– Hat/cap for sun protection \nWhat to carry:\n– Water (3 liters)\n– Snacks/energy bars/your preferred trail food.\n– Rain gear/Poncho\n– Small hiking bag to carry luggage (25L-30L recommended)\n– Sunscreen (optional)\n– Face mask. \nTake note of the following key times:\nMeeting Time at International House: 5.15am bus leaves at exactly 5.20am.
