About the Trail:

Join us for an awesome adventure at Mt Kenya National Park where we will visit Lake Ellis, Nithi Falls and Nithi Caves.

Lake Ellis is located in Mt Kenya and it’s the third largest lake on Mt Kenya’s list of great lakes after L. Alice and L. Michaelson. We will drive to Chogoria town and onwards to Chogoria Park Gate. The hike starts at the Gate after a short stretch and is 7kms to the L.Ellis. Thereafter, the trail gets you right into the forest and takes you through the dense forest covered with both indigenous and man-made trees and to the scenic Nithi Falls. Nithi Falls is a very beautiful waterfall located inside Mt Kenya National Park.

Difficulty Level : Moderate (perfect for high altitude training)
Trail Distance:18 kms with an approximate elevation gain: 760m

Estimated duration of this Hike: 6-7 hours

How to dress for this hike:
– Beanie/Warm Headgear,Thermal top, Warm Jacket, Hiking Pants, Hiking Bag.
– Comfortable waterproof hiking shoes with a good grip. (Tip: always wear a size bigger or half bigger than your normal shoe size)
-Hat/cap/ sunglasses for sun protection (optional)
-Essential Extras: Gaiters, Trekking Pole, Light Gloves, Head torch.

What to carry:
– Water (2 or 3 liters)
– Snacks/energy bars/your preferred trail food.
– Rain gear/Poncho/Rain Jacket (must-have)
– Small hiking bag to carry luggage (30L recommended)
– Sunscreen (optional)
– Face mask.
– Camera (optional)

Meeting Time at International House: 4.00am bus leaves at exactly 4:05am. (We are very strict on time) (T&C apply)

Estimated Finish Time: 4.00pm and back in Nairobi by 9.00pm
