About the trail:

Eburu Forest is a prime indigenous forest that overlooks Lake Naivasha to the south, Lake Elementaita to the North, and Lake Nakuru to the North West. The forest is nestled within the folds of a geologically active volcanic mountain, whose highest peak, Ol Doinyo Eburu, which stands 2,820m asl.

The Mau Eburu Forest covers the slopes of Mount Eburu – a striking, geologically active volcanic massive towering above the floor of the Great Rift Valley, northwest of Lake Naivasha. The forest vegetation is uncommonly rich in biodiversity, harbouring threatened fauna and flora.

In the language of the Masai people Eburru means ‘the smoking mountain’.

What to wear:
– Tights/cargo pants or comfortable and fast dry hiking clothes
– Warm jacket.
– Comfortable hiking shoes, preferably hiking boots or gym/sports shoes with good sole grip.
– Hat/cap for sun protection

What to carry:
– Water (3 liters)
– Snacks/energy bars/your preferred trail food.
– Rain gear/Poncho
– Small hiking bag to carry luggage (25L-30L recommended)
– Sunscreen (optional)
– Face mask.

Meeting Time at International House: 5.15am bus leaves at exactly 5.20am. We are very strict on time. (T&C apply)
Estimated Finish Time: 3.30pm and back in Nairobi by 6:00pm
