About the Trail:

Starting from Castle Forest Lodge located at Mt Kenya National Park, this adventure will guide you along historic elephant trails. The trails wind through rainforests and a few bamboo thickets, leading to the highland swamps and moorlands of the mountain. The stunning natural beauty of the surroundings is totally worth the hike. After the 13-kilometer trek, the magnificent and lengthy Kamweti Waterfall comes to sight, offering a truly captivating panorama. This hike is a haven for both nature lovers, photographers, and (beginner) hikers, offering a tranquil escape to the wilderness. It’s an ideal experience for those who seek solace amidst the serenity of the woods.

Duration of Hike: 5-6 hours

What to wear for this hike:
– Beanie/Warm Headgear,Thermal top, Warm Jacket, Hiking Pants, Hiking Bag.
– Comfortable waterproof hiking shoes with a good grip. (Tip: always wear a size bigger or half bigger than your normal shoe size)
-Hat/cap/ sunglasses for sun protection (optional)
-Essential Extras: Gaiters, Trekking Pole, Light Gloves.

What to carry:
– Water (2 or 3 liters)
– Snacks/energy bars/your preferred trail food.
– Rain gear/Poncho/Rain Jacket
– Small hiking bag to carry luggage (30L recommended)
– Sunscreen (optional)
– Face mask.
– Camera (optional)

Estimated Finish Time: 4.00pm and back in Nairobi by 7:00pm
